Terms & Conditions
Galaxy Dance Academy Pte. Ltd. · UEN 200911106E · GST Reg No 200911106E
When we founded Galaxy Dance Academy, we made a commitment that has guided every decision since: to create a place where people feel genuinely seen, supported, and transformed through dance.
As your coaches and as founders, we personally commit to the following:
- You will always be taught by qualified, professionally trained coaches who care about your progress as much as you do.
- Our studio will be a clean, safe, and welcoming environment every time you walk through the door.
- We will communicate changes to your schedule, coach, or class with as much advance notice as possible.
- If something is not right, we want to hear from you directly. We will always respond to your concerns personally and with respect.
- Email us directly at weare@galaxy-dance.com. This reaches Mikhail and Olesya personally.
- We will never stop working to be worthy of the trust you place in us when you choose Galaxy as your dance home.
This Academy Promise reflects our values and intentions. It is a statement of our commitment to you as founders and coaches, and does not form part of the legally binding terms below.

Your Membership
Joining
- All membership packages are subject to these Terms and Conditions.
- Membership is available to individuals aged 4 years and above.
- Members joining at Foundation level begin straight away and no evaluation is needed. Where a member has previous dance experience, or wishes to join above Foundation level, GDA will arrange an Academy Evaluation before their first class so a coach can confirm the right level and recommend where to start.
- The Management reserves the right to decline a membership application at its discretion.
- Cooling-Off Period: New members may cancel their membership within 3 business days of signing, provided no classes have been attended, and receive a full refund. To exercise this right, email weare@galaxy-dance.com within 3 business days of your sign-up date.
Your Membership is Personal
- Your membership is personal to you and may not be transferred or assigned to another person without written approval from Management.
- GDA may assign the benefit of this agreement to another entity at any time without notice to you.
- Our standard membership is a four month journey. Longer packages are available as options, with details available upon request.
What Your Membership Includes
- Welcome Floor: Membership includes access to the weekly Welcome Floor session, a Foundation level session run each week and included in your membership at no additional charge. Session times are published in the studio and on the member calendar and may change with reasonable notice.
- Events and showcases: Membership includes access to Galaxy social dance events and parties held through the year, at no additional charge. Galaxy also runs showcases and performance events during the year. Participation in showcases is entirely optional and carries additional costs, which may include entry fees, costume, and photography or video. All such costs are advised in writing before a member commits to taking part, and no member is ever required to participate.
Auto-Renewal
- At the end of your commitment period, your membership will automatically renew on the then-current terms and fees, so your dancing continues without interruption.
- GDA will notify you of any fee change at least 45 days before your renewal date. If no notice is received, your fee remains unchanged on renewal.
- To stop the renewal, simply give us one billing cycle’s written notice before your commitment period ends.
- GDA will likewise give you one billing cycle’s notice if we are not continuing your package.
- Both parties may also agree in writing to a different arrangement.
Class Schedule Changes
- GDA will provide a minimum of 14 days written notice for any permanent change to your regular class time, assigned coach, or class format. For urgent or unforeseen circumstances, we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible.
- Make-up classes: Members at Foundation level may attend the same dance on another day within the same week where that dance runs, subject to available space and prior notice to reception. Make-up classes are offered as a courtesy at Management’s discretion and are not a contractual entitlement. From Bronze level onwards, classes are fixed and no make-up class is available. Missed classes are not refundable and cannot be carried forward to a later week.
Studio Breaks
- Classes pause during scheduled studio breaks, which are announced in advance on the studio announcement board and the member calendar. Membership continues during a studio break and the Commitment Period is not affected.
If Studio Classes Are Unavailable
- If classes cannot be held at the studio for any reason, GDA will arrange alternative sessions via Zoom or another suitable platform.
- If you prefer not to attend online sessions, you may notify Management in writing and your membership will be suspended at no charge for the duration that in-person classes are not permitted by law (“Suspension Period”). You remain liable for full fees until the Suspension Period takes effect.
- The Suspension Period does not count toward your Commitment Period. Your Commitment Period will be extended by the length of the Suspension Period, and your full fee resumes at the end of it.
Force Majeure
- If GDA is unable to operate due to events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to pandemic, government order, fire, flood, building closure, or other force majeure event, GDA will freeze all affected memberships at no charge for the duration of the disruption. Your Commitment Period will be extended accordingly. GDA will communicate with you as promptly as possible in such circumstances.
Membership Fees & Payment
- A one-time registration and administration fee applies upon joining, as stated in your agreement.
- Your monthly membership fee is due in full on the billing date each month. Following the first month paid at joining, regular monthly billing falls on the 21st of each month, or on the date stated in your agreement. Payment details will be provided upon joining.
- Recurring card authorisation: By joining, you explicitly authorise GDA to charge your registered credit card automatically on the same date each month for the monthly membership fee applicable to your package, for the full duration of your Commitment Period and any renewal periods thereafter. This authorisation continues until your membership ends in accordance with these Terms. You may update your card details by contacting us at weare@galaxy-dance.com.
- Failed payments: If your card is declined, GDA will retry the charge after 3 business days and again after 7 business days. If payment remains unsuccessful after three attempts, a S$15 charge applies per unsuccessful attempt together with interest at 1% per month on the outstanding amount from the due date. Access to the studio and all activities will be suspended until the account is fully settled.
- Fees are committed for the duration of your membership package and are non-refundable, regardless of attendance. This ensures your dedicated place in the studio and coaching team is always reserved for you.
- Promotional pricing: Where a discounted or promotional fee applies to your first month or joining period, this is a one-time welcome offer. From the second billing cycle onwards, the full standard fee for your package applies as stated in your agreement. Promotional pricing cannot be combined with other offers unless expressly agreed in writing by Management.
- Discounted and promotional rates are final. Any lesson, package, or membership purchased at a discounted, promotional, introductory, or otherwise reduced rate is non-refundable and non-exchangeable in all circumstances. This applies to trial lessons, welcome offers, referral rewards, complimentary or credited sessions, bundled packages, and any rate below the standard published price. Where a reduced rate has been applied, the cooling-off right in Section 2 is the only refund available, and only where no lesson has been attended.
- Refund timeline: Where a refund is due under these Terms, GDA will process it within 14 business days of the refund being confirmed. Refunds will be returned to the original payment method where possible.
Pausing Your Membership (Freeze)
Life happens. We offer the option to temporarily pause your membership for any reason.
Eligibility
- Your account must be up to date with no outstanding fees.
- You must have been a member for more than two months with more than one month remaining in your package.
- You must not have given prior notice of cancellation.
How to Apply
- Submit a Written Notice freeze request to Management at weare@galaxy-dance.com at least fourteen days before your next billing date. You do not need to give a reason. Your billing date depends on your membership type. Adult group memberships bill on the 21st of each month. Children’s and Competitive memberships bill on the 1st. Your freeze begins on your next billing date and runs on that same cycle. Where you would like the freeze fee waived on medical or pregnancy grounds, we require a dated physical letter from a registered medical practitioner, including a summary of the condition and the expected duration. A photograph or scan of that letter is acceptable. Certificates issued online without an in-person consultation are not accepted. This requirement applies only to the fee waiver. A freeze itself never requires a reason or a document.
How It Works
- The freeze takes effect on your next billing date after your request is received, provided the request arrives at least fourteen days beforehand. For adult group memberships that date is the 21st, so a freeze runs from the 21st of one month to the 20th of the next. For children’s and Competitive memberships that date is the 1st, so a freeze runs for the calendar month.
- A freeze fee of S$30 per month (exclusive of GST) applies for the duration of the freeze, except where the reason is medical or related to pregnancy, in which case no freeze fee applies on receipt of the medical letter described above.
- You remain liable for full fees until the freeze takes effect.
- The Freeze Period does not count toward your Commitment Period. Your Commitment Period will be extended by the length of the freeze, and your regular fee resumes at the end of the freeze.
- Freeze periods are a minimum of one calendar month and a maximum of three calendar months. Approval and duration are at Management’s sole discretion.
Ending Your Membership
During the Initial Period
- Cancellation is not available during the first two months (the Initial Period), the Suspension Period, or the Freeze Period.
Non-Renewal at End of Commitment Period
- To stop automatic renewal at the end of your Commitment Period, simply give GDA one billing cycle’s Written Notice before your commitment period ends. No exit fee applies. This is non-renewal, not early cancellation.
Early Exit During the Commitment Period
- To end your membership before your Commitment Period ends, give us Written Notice at least one billing cycle month before your intended end date.
- An early exit fee of 50% of the remaining balance of your Commitment Period applies, calculated from the start of the billing cycle after your notice period expires. On our standard four month package, that equals one month of fees, so after the first two months, if you need to leave, it works like one month’s notice. This fee is subject to GST at the prevailing rate. The early exit fee shall not exceed six months of your monthly membership fee, whichever is lower.
- We review every situation individually. The early exit fee may be waived if you find a suitable replacement member acceptable to Management who takes over your package for the full remaining balance, if you provide satisfactory documentary evidence that you must leave Singapore or are no longer permitted to reside in Singapore through no fault of your own, or in cases of medical hardship as described below.
- If you are unwell or injured, a freeze is usually the better answer. No freeze fee applies where the reason is medical or related to pregnancy (Section 4), so a temporary condition does not need to end your membership. Reception will always offer the freeze first.
- Medical hardship: Where a registered medical practitioner confirms in a dated letter that you are medically unable to participate in physical dance activity for the remainder of your Commitment Period, or indefinitely, the early exit fee is waived. The letter must state the expected duration of that inability. A letter that only names a condition is not sufficient, because it does not tell us whether a freeze would resolve the situation. Pregnancy is handled as a freeze rather than an exit, as it is temporary by definition. Management decides these cases individually and promptly, and will apply this provision generously.
- We will always have a conversation with you before any exit fee is finalised.
- Giving Written Notice of non-renewal before your Commitment Period ends (as described above) does not incur an early exit fee and is not subject to this section.
Your Health and Safety
Your wellbeing is our highest priority. We take all reasonable measures to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
GDA’s Commitment
- GDA is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all members, staff, and visitors and takes appropriate measures to ensure this.
- GDA, its Management, associated companies, representatives, staff, employees, instructors, agents, and volunteers (the “GDA Group”) are not liable for any accident, loss, injury, or death in the Dance Studio, except where directly caused by GDA’s own negligence. By joining, you hold the GDA Group harmless from all related claims, liabilities, and lawsuits.
- All personal property brought to, mailed, couriered, or delivered to the Dance Studio is at the member’s own risk. GDA is not responsible for loss or damage to personal property.
Your Responsibility
- You participate in all activities at your own risk.
- By joining, you confirm that you (and any child or ward you are enrolling) are in good physical and mental health and know of no medical or other reason why dance activities would be detrimental to your health, safety, or comfort.
- If you have any health concerns, please consult your doctor before attending classes.
- If you feel dizzy, faint, unwell, or experience unusual pain or discomfort during a class, stop immediately and inform a staff member.
- Please do not attend classes if you are suffering from any infectious or contagious illness, open wounds, abrasions, open sores, or any condition that could spread to other members or staff.
Minors
- Where a member is below the age of 18, the parent or guardian signing this agreement accepts full liability on the minor’s behalf and consents to the minor’s participation in all GDA activities.
- The parent or guardian also consents to GDA capturing photographs and video of the minor during classes, performances, and competitions for use in GDA’s marketing and promotional materials, unless written objection is provided to Management.
Membership Cancellation by GDA
We are committed to maintaining a warm, respectful community. In rare circumstances, we may need to end a membership.
- GDA may cancel a membership immediately and without notice if a member’s behaviour or conduct is, in Management’s sole discretion, damaging or harmful to GDA, its reputation, interests, safety, or to other members, including conduct that violates the privacy or offends the modesty of anyone in the Dance Studio.
- GDA may also cancel a membership for breach of these Terms and Conditions or the studio’s Rules and Regulations, or where Management considers the member unsuitable to continue.
- Where a membership is cancelled by GDA, the member must immediately settle all outstanding fees, late charges, and interest. The member forfeits all membership privileges with immediate effect and must pay 50% of the Membership Fees for the remaining balance of the Commitment Period, which may be deducted from any advance payments. Any remaining balance after this deduction will be refunded within 14 business days without interest. All GDA property must be returned immediately.
- All Management decisions under this section are final and binding.
Feedback, Complaints & Dispute Resolution
We take every piece of feedback seriously. If something is not right, here is how we handle it.
Step 1: Contact Management Directly
- Email us at weare@galaxy-dance.com with your name, membership details, and a clear description of your concern.
- We commit to acknowledging your email within 2 business days and providing a full response within 14 business days.
- For urgent matters, you are also welcome to speak directly with Management at the studio.
Step 2: Escalation
- If your concern is not resolved to your satisfaction after Management’s response, both parties agree to attempt resolution through good-faith discussion or mediation before pursuing any formal legal action.
Step 3: Legal Proceedings
- If the matter cannot be resolved through Steps 1 and 2, either party may pursue their rights through the courts of Singapore as set out in Section 9.
- For disputes involving amounts within the Small Claims Tribunal jurisdiction, either party may file a claim with the Singapore Small Claims Tribunal.
In the Studio
- All members and their guests must follow GDA’s Rules and Regulations at all times in the Dance Studio. A copy of the current Rules and Regulations is displayed in the studio and available upon request.
- Suitable dance attire is required. At Foundation level, socks or flat non-marking shoes are perfectly fine, though dance shoes are recommended from the start, because they change how quickly you learn to turn and balance. From Bronze level onwards, proper dance shoes are required, or as directed by your coach. Where heeled shoes are worn on the dance floor, heel protectors must be fitted to protect the floor.
- Management, teachers, instructors, and staff may ask anyone to stop an activity or leave the studio if they are considered unsafe or a danger to themselves or others. Please follow their instructions at all times.
- GDA reserves the right to deny admission for breach of these Terms, the Rules and Regulations, or any unlawful, illegal, inappropriate, harmful, or dangerous conduct.
- Members are responsible for any damage to the Dance Studio or its property, including flooring, mirrors, lights, equipment, sound system, TVs, monitors, and recording equipment, caused by themselves or their guests.
- The failure of Management or GDA to enforce any right at any time does not constitute a waiver of that right.
General Provisions
Severability
If any clause in these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid. If modification is not possible, the clause will be deleted. This does not affect the validity of the remaining terms.
Intellectual Property
GDA retains all copyright and intellectual property rights in its work products, lessons, teaching methods, techniques, syllabus, music, videos, audio recordings, materials, and choreography. These may not be shared publicly or used in any way without prior written approval from Management.
Your Personal Data
- By joining, you agree that GDA may collect, maintain, store, use, and disclose your personal data to provide services, comply with applicable laws and regulations, industry codes and guidelines, and for internal audit purposes, in accordance with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
- You have the right to access and correct your personal data held by GDA by contacting us at weare@galaxy-dance.com.
- “Personal data” means any data, whether true or not, about an individual who can be identified from that data, or from that data combined with other information GDA holds or is likely to have access to.
Photography, Video & Marketing Consent
- Photography and video recording inside the Dance Studio are not permitted without express written authorisation from Management.
- GDA may capture photographs and video of members during classes, performances, showcases, and competitions. By joining, you consent to GDA using such content in its marketing, social media, and promotional materials.
- If you do not wish your image to be used in GDA’s marketing materials, just say the word to reception, or write to us at weare@galaxy-dance.com. GDA will record your preference either way, and we will respect it.
- Unless otherwise agreed in writing, GDA may mention that you are a member of GDA in its marketing and promotional materials.
Lost Property
Unclaimed property found in the Dance Studio will be held for two weeks. After this period, Management may dispose of items as it sees fit. The member may be liable for costs of storage or disposal. GDA is not responsible for any damage, loss, or disposal of unclaimed property.
Health and Hygiene
All members and accompanying persons are requested to practise good hygiene when entering the studio, including handwashing and use of hand sanitiser. Anyone with a temperature of 37°C or above may not enter the Dance Studio. Where required by law, masks and social distancing apply.
Law and Jurisdiction
This agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore.
Both GDA and the Member submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
